Week in Review 3/21-3/25

Well, hello there! This week we've been readjusting to school after Spring Break and attempting to wrap our minds around the fact that testing season is upon us. At this point, as a class we are working on showing how much we know by reading carefully and paying attention to details in our work. Here's what went on in rooms 28/30 this week.

This week in academics:
  • The 4th graders created electromagnets with Mr. DiFranco.
  • We reviewed this year's science topics.
  • The 4th graders took their AIMS science tests.
  • The 5th graders practiced calculating perimeter and area with fractions and decimals.
  • We learned about the causes of the Civil War and the Fugitive Slave Act.
  • We practiced identifying different text structures within readings.
  • We began reading Charley Skedaddle by Patricia Beatty
  • We classified triangles by their angles and sides.
  • We classified quadrilaterals.

Looking Ahead:
  • One more week until our first AZ Merit week. The first (writing) test will be on:
    • Wednesday, April 6th for 4th graders
    • Thursday, April 7th for 5th graders
  • The fourth graders are going to Wupatki National Monument this Thursday, March 31st
    • So far we don't have any chaperones. Please email me if you can come with us! (ebaker@fusd1.org)
  • We have garden on Friday, March 1st!

Have a super weekend!

Ms. Baker and Ms. Fisher
