A Week in Review 11/14-11/18

Hey there, Fisher Baker Families! This week we welcomed Mr. Kasch into our Fisher / Baker family and back to Marshall from two years of retirement. We are thrilled to have this math, science, and book loving riddler in our room. We are so lucky have him and look forward to continuing to work together for the duration of Ms. Fisher's maternity leave. And no...there's no baby news yet... We'll be sure to make that happy announcement as soon as we hear anything!

This week in Academics:
  • We learned and continued practice on four different methods of multiplication: area model, distributive property, partial products, and the algorithm.
  • We continued reading Sophia's War
  • We began a small unit on U.S. government, which has been particularly relevant in light of current events.
  •  We discussed AR book requirements and talked about two assignments that are due on Friday, December 2nd.
This week in the Marshall Garden:
Today, John Taylor (JT) and the TerraBirds treated us to breakfast tacos made with potatoes and beans from our very own garden! It was so cool to see our efforts come full circle!

Looking Ahead:

  • No School next Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday (11.23/ 11.24/ 11.25)  for Thanksgiving.
  • Monday and Tuesday are regular school days.
  • 5th Graders will visit MEMS on Wednesday 11/30 from 10:30ish-2:00ish (No permission slips needed)
  • SAVE THE DATE: Thursday 12/15 for Colonists' Nightly News Movie Premiere. Showtimes to be determined.
